One of the core innovations and values of Film Olympiad is our radical honesty.

Films deserve to know how the jury rated them, how they compare to other contestants, what was considered a weakness or an advantage in the film. We find this knowledge vital and priceless.

We respect filmmakers too much and we believe that at the end of the day nothing is more valuable than having an honest to God approach.

We acknowledge this as the biggest risk for Film Olympiad. But it is a risk we are willing to take. We realise that some may get slightly disappointed by our ratings and reviews. We hope that they will take what is useful, send us their next film and prove us wrong. This is our dream.

We always face each film and filmmaker with empathy. With love. We know what it means, what it feels, to create a film, to share it, despite all hardships, despite all struggles to have a budget which is never enough, despite all struggles to have a cohesive team, despite the every day agony of an artist to pay the rent at the end of the month.

This is why we approach each film positively. We want to see your dreams and vision, empathise with your heroes, laugh with your jokes, cry with your drama, feel exhilarated by your pathos. We consider every filmmaker, we consider you, family.

Our innovations include;

a) Each filmmaker – regardless of whether they are selected or not – will have their film’s rating in five different categories, depending if is a narrative, documentary, animation, etc.
b) Each filmmaker – regardless of whether they are selected or not – can have a positive and constructive feedback.
c) Each filmmaker can see how their film compares to others.
d) Each filmmaker can use their film’s review for their audience, fans and others as a reference.
