The 1st Film Olympiad annual event is taking place on 30 April – 8 May 2022, with six qualifying Film Olympiad Grand Prix competitions that took place from June 2021 to February 2022, preceding our annual competition.
In less than a year, 370 films from 62 countries competed in this inaugural edition of Film Olympiad, believing in the vision of slightly more unique International Film Festival format. Film Olympiad thanks all these filmmakers for their passion and hopes to develop soon to the highest possible level in order to promote and showcase their work in the best imaginable way.
The films are initially divided in 20 groups of 5 films each, initially seeded according to their position in the Film Olympiad Grand Prixes or the secondary status that they may have qualified through (general category medalist, category nominee, diversity wildcard).
32 of them are qualified to the knock – out stage. With only 5 knock-out wins, a film, becomes the Film Olympiad Grand Prix Gold Medalist.

Knock – out stage:
Films are seeded according to their group stage position and ratings to the knock – out bracket. There are 5 rounds (Round of 32, Round of 16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, Finals) and in each round films are re-evaluated.
