16th Film Olympiad Grand Prix
This month marks the 5-year anniversary of the Film Olympiad — a historic milestone for our festival and an opportunity to reflect on an extraordinary journey. 🎞️✨
In just a few years, and with absolutely no public funding, the Film Olympiad has grown beyond all expectations. What began as an ambitious vision has evolved into a truly international platform for cinema, bringing together thousands of films from nearly 120 countries 🌎 and welcoming filmmakers from every corner of the globe.
Throughout these five years, our events have consistently attracted full-house audiences, while our competitions have featured more than 20 Oscar-winning, Oscar-nominated or Oscar-shortlisted filmmakers and actors, alongside celebrated international artists and Hollywood icons. Most remarkably, many of these achievements have taken place within the last eighteen months.
At the same time, the Film Olympiad has remained deeply committed to independent cinema 🎬. Our competitions continue to offer a genuine opportunity for low-budget and no-budget productions to compete on equal terms with major productions — and, on numerous occasions, emerge victorious.
Transparency has also remained at the heart of our philosophy. To this day, Film Olympiad is the only film festival in the world that publicly releases the ratings of all participating films, offering filmmakers valuable feedback and a uniquely open competition environment.
As we enter the 16th Film Olympiad Grand Prix 🏆, the level of competition continues to rise and we expect another outstanding selection of films from around the world.
We are also delighted to welcome, for the first time in Film Olympiad history, films representing the following flags:
🇨🇷 Costa Rica
🇰🇪 Kenya
🇳🇪 Niger
🇱🇮 Liechtenstein
🇬🇵 Guadeloupe
Thank you to every filmmaker, volunteer, jury member, partner and audience member who has helped make these first five years possible.
